Google Talk & Hangouts Issue 3/17/14

Slowness in Gmail

Google sent a notification of Gmail slowness behavior.

Affected Products:

Description:
People Widget feature in Gmail is currently causing slowness in the WEB interface. This is noticeable when users open an email conversation with a large number of participants and it can be reproduced with multiple browsers. The current workaround is to disable the feature 'People Widget' under Gmail settings. In the meantime our teams are looking into a definitive solution for the problem.

Steps to Reproduce:
1 - Go To Gmail
2 - Make sure the feature 'People Widget' is enabled
3 - Open an Email conversation with a large number of participants
4 - Notice that the action takes several seconds to complete

Workaround:
The workaround is to disable People Widget feature:

1 - Go to Gmail
2 - Click the gear in the top right.
3 - Select Settings.
4 - On the General tab in Settings, select the ‘Hide the people widget’ radio button.
5 - Click Save Changes at the bottom of the page.

Gmail outage 1/24/14

Some of our users have reported problem accessing Gmail. Google have acknowledged this and have fixed this issue who affected multiple users around the World.
